Commuters traveling towards the Hebbal flyover from K R Puram to enter Bengaluru should prepare for four months of slow-moving traffic as the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) is set to commence construction of new flyover lanes at the bustling intersection.

The BDA has proposed the construction of two dedicated lanes from KR Puram to Hebbal, aiming to segregate traffic coming from Kempegowda International Airport and alleviate congestion at the Hebbal junction. This project holds significance as the Hebbal junction serves as a vital link for traffic to and from the airport and connects to key IT corridors such as K R Puram in the east.

According to BDA officials, the dismantling of two spans of the loop connecting KR Puram to Hebbal will commence in the next two days, leading to a reduction in road width and disruptions in traffic flow.

A statement from the Bengaluru traffic police advisory warned, “Since the BDA has proposed to add two new tracks to Hebbal flyover, two spans will be dismantled near KR Puram loop joining the main track. This will make the movement of traffic very slow as KR Puram loop towards the city for the next four months.” They recommended commuters to utilize alternative routes to enter the city.

Suggestions included using the IOC-Mukunda theatre road, Lingarajapuram flyover route, or Nagavara-Tannery Road route for commuters from KR Puram, while those from Hegde Nagar-Thanisandra could opt for the GKVK-Jakkur road.
