Bengaluru: 1.1 Cr people registered for Koti Kanta Gayana

Bengaluru: Kannada and Culture Minister V. Sunil Kumar said that 1.10 crore people have registered their names to participate in the ‘Koti Kanta Gayana’ programme to be held on Friday October 28.

Minister said, “Kannadigas from across the country and abroad have enthusiastically come forward to participate in this singing programme and on Friday, a record will be created by the Kannada band in crores of voices,” he said. “As part of this programme, the department has launched a separate QR code in which Kannada lovers from 29 States and 25 countries have registered their names. On night of Tuesday October 25 1.01 crore names were registered in the QR code. The number has now reached 1.10 crore. In the next two days, this number will cross 1.50 crore,” he expressed hope.

The programme will be held on the morning of Friday with the State anthem ‘Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujathe’ composed by Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, ‘Udayavagali Namma Cheluva Kannadanadu’ written by Huyilagola Narayana Rao, Dr. Channaveera Kanavi’s ‘Vishwa Vinoothana Vidya Chetana Sarva Hridaya Sanskari’, Kuvempu’s ‘Barisu Kannada Dindimava’, Dr. D. S. Karki’s ‘Hachhevu Kannada Deepa’, and Dr. Hamsalekha’s ‘Huttidare Kannada Nadalli Huttabeku’ to be sung in crores of voices.
