Bengaluru: A 28-year-old BESCOM lineman allegedly died of electrocution while fixing a transformer near Gopalapura police chowki on Monday January 23.

According to sources, Goutham, a resident of Sunkadakatte, and two colleagues attached to the BESCOM office near Anjana talkies on Magadi Road were on night duty from Sunday. The three went to the spot at around 9.00 am after receiving a call from the BESCOM helpdesk regarding sparks coming from a transformer. While Goutham was climbing a pole, the power supply was still on. He was rushed to a hospital where he passed away while under treatment.

Magadi Road police have taken up a case against the Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer, and Junior Engineer for negligence resulting in death in response to a complaint made by Goutham’s father.
