Bengaluru: The Ashoknagar Police arrested four persons in connection with the kidnapping of a software engineer and robbing him of Rs. 8 lakh.

The arrested accused have been identified as Vignesh (23), Tarun Nagesh (22), Chareesh J. (23), and Manikanta (21).

Rahul Viradiya (35), a resident of Hoodi and a native of Gujarat, parked his car at Kalyan Nagar on November 26 and took an autorickshaw to Brigade Road seeking entertainment, informed the police.

When someone on Brigade Road tried to show him some photos on his phone, the complainant refused and got into the same rickshaw. He found that a car was following them, so he told the driver to speed up and head to the nearest police station. But the car waylaid the rickshaw near Central Mall in Ashok Nagar, and the accused pulled him out and abducted him.

Police informed that he was robbed of his gold chain, and the kidnappers used his debit cards to withdraw money from ATMs. The abductors also withdrew the Rs. 2 lakh that the victim’s brother also sent. He was later dropped off in Kalyan Nagar.
