Bengaluru: Rs. 30 lakh worth half a kilo of gold stashed away in a reputed private bank has gone missing. An FIR has been registered at Yelahanka New Town Police Station in connection with the theft of the gold ornaments.
B. N. Krishnakumar (61), a resident of Yelahanka, had opened a safe locker on June 17, 2020, at a reputed private bank in Yelahanka suburbs. His son has been living in Germany for nearly three-and-a-half years and this safe locker was in the father-son’s name.
On June 8, 580 grams of gold ornaments were kept in the locker. He then moved to Germany. On November 10, after returning to India, he went to the bank to collect the jewellery kept in the locker and found no jewellery in the coded box.
Further he said “When I asked the bank manager about this, he told me to come after three days. Three days later, when Krishnakumar went to the bank and enquired, they said that they don’t know what happened to the box containing his jewellery. It is also alleged that the manager also said “If you want, you can go to the police station and file a complaint.”
Following this, Krishna Kumar lodged a complaint with the Yelahanka New Town Police Station, alleging that it was possible that the bank staff had taken away his gold ornaments.
