Bengaluru: In a big setback to ruling BJP, party’s senior most MLA and Former Minister S. A. Ravindranath announced that he will not contest in the election.
He is currently representing Davanagere North Constituency.
Strangely he didn’t seek ticket for his relatives also. A senior BJP Leader informed that with Shamanur Shivashankarappa’s son S. S. Mallikarjun likely to contest from his Constituency this year, Ravindranath decided against contesting.
His announcement came hours after another BJP MLA Haladi Srinivasa Shetty also declined to contest in the election.
According to the BJP sources, many senior leaders are opting out of the race fearing defeat in the election with the State Government facing strong anti-incumbency wave.
