Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which finished the process of hiring 180 doctors for its Namma Clinics last month, on Sunday November 6 invited applications to hire the remaining 63 doctors.
According to officials, the clinics are scheduled to open on December 15. Over 243 of Karnataka’s 438 Namma Clinics in urban local bodies will be functioning in the City.
There will be one MBBS doctor, a nurse, and a lab technician at each of these clinics. There will be one Namma Clinic in each ward. These clinics will operate as Primary Health Centres (PHC).
Namma Clinics are being established in government buildings and on rented properties with an area of 1,000–1,200 sq. ft, said Health Minister K. Sudhakar. “The annual cost to the government to maintain the staff will be Rs. 138 Crore. Namma Clinics will spread awareness about food habits, pranayama, dhyana, and yoga practice. It will educate the public about government health schemes,” he added.
