Bengaluru: Baburao Chinchansur was on Thursday August 4 was elected unopposed in the by-poll to State Legislative Council.
He was the only candidate who filednomination to the seat made vacant due to the resignation of C. M. Ibrahim. The election was slated to be held on August 11, and Thursday was the last day to withdraw nominations.
As he was the sole candidate, he has been declared elected unopposed, stated Legislative Assembly Secretary and Returning Officer M. K. Vishalakshi.
Former Minister Chinchansur who was earlier with the Congress joined BJP in August 2018.
