Bengaluru: Two security guards have been suspected of the murder of a bank employee on the premises of Vanshee Citadel apartment in Marathahalli near HAL.
The deceased identified as Abhinash (24) from Odisha had travelled to the city to attend a training session. Since Abhinash didn’t have any identification with him, the police had trouble identifying him, but after unlocking his phone, they were able to do so.
According to sources, Shyamnath, a 25-year-old security guard, saw a stranger jump inside the apartment after climbing the main gate on July 5 at 2.00 am. He inquired about the stranger’s identity. Shyamnath and his aide, 23-year-old Ajith Mura, beat him to death and clubbed him with an iron rod as they thought he was a thief.
Mura’s involvement in the case was later found by HAL police, who had initially filed a murder case against Shyamnath.
According to the police, Abhinash is an Odisha resident who works for a Chhattisgarh bank. He travelled to Bengaluru for a training session and was staying at Marathahalli with his older brother.
If the security officers had thought the intruder was a thief, they could have informed them. They had no right to law into their hands, said police.
A murder case has been filed against the guards, who have been arrested. They were brought before the court and were remanded to judicial custody.
