Bengaluru City Police have imposed strict restrictions on public celebrations following the IPL 2026 final, urging citizens to avoid gatherings, road celebrations and activities that could disturb public order.

The advisory comes as excitement builds around the IPL final featuring Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with authorities stressing that public safety must remain the top priority. Police have instructed residents not to organise victory celebrations in public places once the match result is announced.

Public screenings and road celebrations restricted

According to the advisory, LED screens facing public roads cannot be installed without permission, and existing outdoor screens should not be used for public viewing of the final. Authorities have also prohibited match screenings outside malls, pubs and commercial establishments if they are visible to large public gatherings.

Police have further banned bike rallies, dangerous stunts, over-speeding, misuse of horns and road blockages. Bursting crackers and using hazardous materials during celebrations have also been prohibited.

Advisory follows last year’s tragedy

The restrictions come nearly a year after the tragic crowd crush outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during celebrations of RCB’s maiden IPL title victory in 2025. The incident claimed 11 lives and left dozens injured, triggering widespread scrutiny of crowd management and public safety arrangements.

In response, Bengaluru Police have significantly tightened safety measures for major cricket-related gatherings and public events across the city.

Citizens urged to cooperate

Police have appealed to fans to celebrate responsibly and avoid sharing provocative content, rumours or hateful messages on social media that could trigger tensions. Officials said maintaining peace and public order is a shared responsibility.

Authorities have urged residents to follow traffic advisories and cooperate with security personnel to ensure a safe environment throughout the IPL final period
