Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has said that Namaz should not be offered on roads or at intersections on Bakrid which falls on July 10. The decision was made to maintain smooth traffic, informed BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath, who also said that the issue will be discussed with Bengaluru police.
Girinath informed that prayers will be held throughout the city without affecting traffic. He said that the BBMP has not yet cleaned the contentious Idgah Maidan because animals were being sold there in preparation for Bakrid.
He emphasised that there is a clear order from the Supreme Court on the issue, and just like every year, permission for the prayer will be granted this time as well, allowing namaz to be performed at Chamarajpet Idgah Maidan.
The Bengaluru DC made it clear in a proceeding copy issued by the BBMP on animal sacrifice during Bakrid that there will be no slaughtering of cows, camels, or buffalo in wake of the newly enacted legislation. T Io prevent the transport of cows, buffalo, or camels, special teams across the city made up of activists, veterinarians, and police would be monitoring all entry points.
