Bengaluru: A Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) employee and his friend have been arrested by the City Police on Saturday August 21 after he reportedly transferred Rs. 14 lakh of public money to her.
The two people arrested are Yelahanka New Town residents Prakash MK (39) and Kanchana, (30), informed the police.
Prakash, a Second Division Assistant (SDA) who worked for the BBMP at Byatarayanapura, was accused of failing to submit records for the annual audit, according to a complaint made by Rajendra Naik, executive engineer (power) of the BBMP. He refused to comply despite repeated requests and verbal instructions, said Naik, who filed the complaint. He also stopped coming to work without prior notice.
The accused allegedly manipulated cheques and records, and between November 2021 and August 2022, Rs. 14,07,822 was transferred to Kanchana, according to bank statements for the financial year 2021–2022.
