Bengaluru: With heavy rains disrupting NREGA work, the NREGA funds are likely to go back to the Centre. Therefore, the Chief Minister has instructed the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers to start work under NREGA in large numbers in the coming days.

Speaking at a meeting of Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers held at Vidhana Soudha here on Monday October 17, he instructed them to make full use of NREGA funds by November-December. He urged to submit a proposal to the Central Government for increasing the grant for construction of Anganawadi buildings under NREGA and lack of land for construction of solid waste plant.

He suggested to undertake steps for the full implementation of the Centre’s Jal Jeevan Mission. About Rs. 9,000 Crore has been allocated to provide tap water to every household, he said and suggested that the remaining work should be completed early.
