Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based digital content creator Rohan Raj has emerged as one of Karnataka’s fastest-growing social media personalities, attracting over 44,600 followers on Instagram in just a few months through his engaging Gen Z-focused Kannada content.
Known on Instagram as @rohanrh1no, Rohan has carved a niche for himself by blending contemporary internet culture with Kannada humour, creating videos that resonate strongly with young audiences across the state.
From marketing professional to full-time creator
Originally from Magadi and now based in Bengaluru, Rohan began creating videos for fun last year before taking content creation seriously in 2026. A graduate in Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), he previously worked in event management and later as a creative strategist at a marketing agency.
Recently, he decided to step away from his job to pursue acting full-time while continuing his journey as a content creator, freelancer, scriptwriter and marketer.
Speaking about his early days, Rohan said his involvement in theatre and college cultural activities helped him overcome stage fright and build confidence in front of the camera. As a member of the comedy troupe Gentlemen of Goli, he regularly performed on stage and honed his improvisational comedy skills, which now form the backbone of his digital content.
He also shared that creating videos became a source of healing after the loss of his father, eventually growing into a career that opened new opportunities.
Giving Kannada content a Gen Z twist
Rohan said he identified a gap in Instagram’s regional content space, where Gen Z humour in Kannada was relatively unexplored.
His breakthrough came through humorous literal Kannada translations of trending English songs and popular Gen Z expressions, creating a style that quickly connected with young viewers. He believes combining internet trends with local culture makes his content both relatable and entertaining.
Rather than limiting himself to one format, Rohan experiments with different styles while adapting trending content to suit his Kannada-speaking audience. He also welcomed the rise of more regional creators, calling it a positive sign for Karnataka’s growing digital ecosystem.
Eyes set on acting and bigger milestones
Looking ahead, Rohan hopes to cross the 100,000-follower milestone on Instagram before the end of the year. He revealed that his success on social media has also opened doors to the film industry, where he is actively attending auditions and exploring acting opportunities.
Describing his mother as his biggest source of motivation, Rohan said one of his proudest achievements was buying her a Mysore silk saree with the income he earned through content creation.
Encouraging aspiring creators, he advised them to focus on consistency and learning rather than chasing financial rewards. According to him, success comes from enjoying the creative process and growing with every piece of content.
