Bengaluru: A case has been registered against Tourism, Ecology and Environment Minister Anand Singh for allegedly threatening a family over a land dispute. Following this, the members of the family tried to end their life, informed police on Wednesday August 31.

Police said that the FIR was filed against the Minister and three other people in response to a complaint made by D. Polappa under the Prevention of Atrocities Against SC-ST Act and sections 504 and 506 of the IPC.

The case is a dispute between members of a community and Polappa, a member of the SC community, over a plot of land in a village in the district.

According to sources, the members of the community had asked the Minister to assist in settling the conflict during his visit to the area on Tuesday.

Polappa said in his complaint that the Minister had threatened to burn his family.

On Tuesday night, the complainant and five of his relatives arrived near the Hospet Rural Police Station. They all attempted self-immolation. However, they were saved and rushed to a hospital.

A case was also registered against Polappa and five others for attempting suicide, informed police.
