Bengaluru: A 36-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter killed themselves following a domestic discord over keeping a pet dog.

According to sources, Divya R. (36) was allergic to dogs and begged her husband to send their pet dog away, but he and his family refused. She killed herself and her only daughter, Hridhya S., on Monday September 11 because she was upset about the issue.

The family stayed in HBR Layout in East Bengaluru. Hridhya was a Class 6 student of a private school.

Based on a complaint made by her father, Govindapura police have registered a case against Divya’s husband Srinivas and her in-laws. Srinivas was arrested by the police and remanded in judicial custody.

Divya and Hridhya did not leave their room until 7.30 am on Monday. The duo was later found hanging from the ceiling by her husband. According to police, there was no death note.
