Police in Bengaluru have arrested six persons for allegedly operating a large narcotics racket involving banned substances worth nearly ₹20 crore.
According to investigators, the accused were reportedly procuring narcotic substances at lower prices and distributing them illegally for profit across different parts of the city.
Massive drug seizure during operation
Officials said a significant quantity of banned narcotic substances was seized during the operation. The crackdown was carried out following intelligence inputs and surveillance by law enforcement agencies.
Police sources indicated that the accused were allegedly involved in organised distribution networks targeting consumers in urban areas, including students and young individuals.
Authorities are now investigating the source of the narcotics supply chain and possible interstate links connected to the racket.
College students reportedly among targets
Investigators suspect that college students and young professionals were among the primary targets of the illegal network.
The case has once again raised concerns about increasing drug abuse and the circulation of narcotics in metropolitan cities like Bengaluru.
Law enforcement officials have repeatedly warned about the growing use of social media and digital platforms in facilitating illegal drug transactions.
Police intensify anti-drug efforts
The arrests are part of Bengaluru police’s continued efforts to curb narcotics-related crimes and dismantle organised drug networks operating in the city.
Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to identify additional suspects, suppliers and financial transactions linked to the operation.
Police have also appealed to educational institutions and parents to remain alert and encourage awareness regarding substance abuse.
Growing concern over urban drug abuse
Experts say rising urban stress, nightlife culture and easy access through illegal channels have contributed to increased concerns around narcotics use among youth.
Citizens and community groups have welcomed the latest crackdown while urging authorities to strengthen prevention, counselling and awareness initiatives alongside enforcement measures.
