Bengaluru: The Education Department, which had dropped the texts of seven writers in textbooks including Devanuru Mahadeva and G. Ramakrishna during the revision of textbooks, has decided to teach them only for the current academic year (2022-23) in the interest of the academics of the students.
Kannada language textbooks for classes 1 to 10 were revised for the year 2022-23. In this connection, 7 authors/poets advised not to consider their lessons/poems for teaching-learning and evaluation as they withdrew their permission.
Later, the public, parents and some dignitaries urged that the textual contents of the prose/poems of these authors be continued. Also, dropping the text in the middle of the academic year may not be in the academic interest of the students as the students have already learnt these subjects. In view of this, these subjects should be continued only for the academic year. Therefore, the circular issued on September 23 has been withdrawn.
The Managing Director of The Karnataka Textbook Association has instructed all the schools in the State to consider teaching-learning and evaluation as applicable only for the current year.
10th class – Edege Bidda Akshara (Devanuru Mahadeva), Bhagat Singh – (Dr. G. Ramakrishna), Higondu Top Journey (Eerappa M. Kambali), Kattuteva Navu (Satish Kulkarni), Eeni (Sukanya Maruti), 9th class – Ammanaguvudendare (Roopa Haasan), 6th class – Dr. Rajkumar (Dodda Hullur Rukkoji Rao) are the texts included.
