A Bengaluru-based data engineer has shared his journey of repeatedly applying to Amazon for nearly five years before finally securing a job at the company.
The story, shared through a social media video, has resonated with many professionals dealing with job rejections and competitive hiring processes.
‘My resume was rejected every time’
In the Instagram video, Aritra introduced himself as a data engineer at Amazon and spoke about the repeated setbacks he faced during the application process.
According to him, he applied to Amazon more than seven to eight times over five years through referrals as well as the company’s official job portal.
However, he said every attempt ended with automatic rejection emails even before his resume could be shortlisted.
“I applied through referrals and the job portal, but every single time my resume didn’t even get shortlisted,” he said in the video.
‘I decided not to quit’
Aritra explained that after years of rejection, he reached a point where he had to choose between giving up and continuing to try.
He said he chose to continue improving his skills and preparation despite the disappointments.
Eventually, he received an interview call from Amazon and successfully cleared the selection process.
“Life is unfair, competitive, and exhausting sometimes. We cannot control every rejection, but we can control our consistency and hard work,” he said.
Story resonates with job seekers
Along with the video, Aritra also shared a detailed caption describing how painful repeated rejection emails felt during those years.
The clip quickly drew reactions from users who said they related closely to his experience with silent applications, rejections, and career struggles.
