Bengaluru: In a big boost to the JD (S) which is struggling to remain relevant in State politics, disgruntled party leader G. T. Devegowda has decided to remain in the party.

A decision in this regard was communicated by Gowda at the time of his meeting with another party leader S. R. Mahesh.

GTD is the Chamundeshwari MLA and he defeated then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the 2018 State Assembly election. He was a Minister in the then Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy-led coalition Government.

It was announced that he would be quitting the party following his differences of opinion with another party leader from Mysuru S. R. Mahesh, a former Minister and KR Nagar MLA.

According to the sources, GTD was offered Chamundeshwari ticket beside Hunsur ticket to his son G. D. Harish. The party has decided to organise the party in the District under his leadership.
