Bengaluru: A 28-year-old gym trainer died by suicide in the city, with his family alleging that prolonged harassment and blackmail by a married woman drove him to take the extreme step.

The deceased, identified as Dileep, was a state-level fitness trainer. He was found dead in his room after returning home late at night, in an incident that has triggered a police investigation.

Incident came to light through social media message

The case came to light after Dileep’s sister received an Instagram message from a woman identified as Yogitha, informing her about the incident.

Alarmed by the message, family members rushed to his room and broke open the door, only to find him unresponsive. Police were immediately informed.

Officials from the police and forensic teams visited the scene, collected evidence, and shifted the body for postmortem examination.

Allegations of harassment and blackmail

According to the family, Dileep had come into contact with a 42-year-old married woman at a gym, and the acquaintance gradually developed into a close relationship.

They allege that the woman later began blackmailing him, demanding money and property. The family claimed that Dileep was under severe mental stress due to the alleged harassment.

Family members further stated that the issue had previously reached the police. At that time, the matter was reportedly settled mutually in the presence of the woman’s husband. However, they allege that the harassment continued despite the earlier intervention.

Case registered, probe underway

Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death. Authorities are examining evidence, including digital communication, to verify the allegations made by the family.

Officials indicated that further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation and the postmortem report.

Family demands justice

The bereaved family has demanded strict action against those responsible, alleging that sustained harassment and pressure led to Dileep’s death.

The case has once again highlighted concerns over mental health, harassment, and the impact of personal disputes escalating into serious consequences.

Conclusion

As the investigation progresses, police are expected to examine all aspects of the case, including the allegations of blackmail and prior complaints. The incident underscores the need for timely intervention and support mechanisms in cases involving harassment and mental distress.
