Bengaluru: HC cancels bail of absconding drug case accused

Bengaluru: The State High Court has cancelled the bail granted to a Nigerian national in a drugs case after it was found that he was absconding and not attending the trial for last five years.

The court said that as an exceptional case, the bail has been cancelled though ordinarily granted bail is not cancelled.

Justice K. Natarajan said citing Supreme Court judgements that the Sessions Court has granted bail without due reason and on investigation an error has been committed. Plus accused has violated the conditions of bail by absconding. Therefore, the petitioner – State has made out a case for cancellation of bail granted by the Sessions Judge/Special Judge, he noted
