Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court is likely to make rulings about a number of petitions challenging the Urban Development Department’s notification regarding the delimitation of 243 Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) wards on September 21.

Justice Hemant Chandangoudar passed the order to list the matters on the said date as arguments concluded by the parties. The notification of July 14, 2022, was challenged by S. D. Gururaj of the Shanthinagar Block Congress Committee, S. Ismail Zabiulla, and others.

The court noted orally that there could be minor irregularities or discrepancies because the notification process is complex and elections for the BBMP are required because the council’s term has already expired two years. The petitioners’ lawyers said that they required some time to gather the judgments of the apex court to support their petitions.
