Bengaluru: Two persons were killed by hornets and honeybees in separate incidents in City.
While a honeybee incident happened in the Village of Channadevi Agrahara, a hornet incident was reported in Kanakapura. In separate incidents Bengaluru Rural and Kanakapura on Thursday September 22, two persons have died after being attacked by hornets and honeybees.
Ramesh D. (21) died after being stung by hornets in an incident that occurred at Belaguli hamlet, close to Harohalli in Kanakapura of the Ramanagara District, while five other people suffered injuries. Ramesh is a native of the village of Hittalahalli in the Tumakuru District’s Kunigal Taluk.
One of the injured men, Darshan, was celebrating his birthday when the accident happened. According to Kanakapura Rural Police, Darshan along with his friends travelled to Belaguli to celebrate Darshan’s birthday. Darshan, Kiran, Mallikarjun, Mohan, and Girish are in the hospital and undergoing treatment.
The group was preparing food at a nearby location after praying at the Kanive Anjaneya Swamy Temple. The hornets in a nearby site may have been disturbed by the smoke from the cooking site. The men were rescued by the villagers and took them to a nearby hospital. Ramesh died of his injuries at 4.30 p.m. The police have filed a case of unnatural death. Darshan, Kiran, and Ramesh are being treated in the ICU.
Second incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday September 22, a 65-year-old farmer was stung by honeybees and died in Channadevi Agrahara Village near Doddaballapura. Ranganath was attacked by bees while working in his farm. Ranganath, who had been stung by more than 50 bees, had fallen unconscious. Villagers shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Doddabelavangala Police have opened case of unnatural death.
