Bengaluru: A housewife committed suicide after her neighbours quarreled over water supply.

Saraswathi (35), a resident of Government Housing Complex at Srinivasapura on Kogilu Main Road, resorted to suicide by hanging herself.

Saraswati couple has two children. Her husband Nagaraj has worked as a camera assistant in films. In the meantime, Srinivas and Bhavani, who lived on the ground floor, used to bring a separate water tank and fill it with water separately from the water sump meant for everyone.

Saraswati’s neighbours had scolded her for causing water scarcity due to this. For the past few days, there was a fight between the two families and when they approached the police station, with the police warning them.

When Nagaraj had gone to Dharwad for film work, a fight broke out over water again. Srinivas, his wife Bhavani and Shilpa, a neighbour, abused Saraswati. A distraught Saraswati called her husband and told him, “I can’t bear it anymore, you’re not building a house elsewhere, I’m dying.” A panicked Nagaraj called the neighbours and they told him that Saraswathi has resorted to suicide.

Nagaraj has lodged a complaint with Yelahanka Police Station against Srinivas, Bhavani and Shilpa.
