Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D. K. Shivakumar on Monday October 31 that the government is closing 40 canteens and urged his party workers to protest wherever they are being closed. He was speaking to Congress workers after paying tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
He said that the government should not close the canteen as the autorickshaw drivers, labourers and the poor can get food for Rs. 10. He asserted that the BJP government may launch its own initiatives while continuing any pro-people programmes launched by the Congress Government.
“Indira Canteens must be allowed to operate. The presidents of each district will submit a report and details to protest against their closure,” he added.
He challenged the CM to form a panel to look into every case, including those that were reported when Congress was in power. Shivakumar criticised the government for not fixing potholes on the roads in Bengaluru.
