Bengaluru: Congress leaders Siddaramaiah, D. K. Shivakumar, and B. K. Hariprasad on Tuesday July 26 slammed the BJP government’s decision to celebrate Basavaraj Bommai’s one-year government and three years of the party’s rule in the State. The BJP government’s corruption is being celebrated, not Sadhana Sammelana, they said.
Since the BJP came into power, corruption has become rampant, and Bengaluru and Karnataka have grown into the country’s capitals of corruption, they claimed.
The government increased the cost of pesticides and fertilisers rather than doubling farmers’ income. By introducing GST on milk products, it has made history, they added.
The leaders further said that, “The government lied, claiming there was no illegality, in response to questions about the PSI recruitment scam. After our leaders provided proof, some people have been arrested. They claimed that several scammers were sent back without investigation.”
“Even when President Kempanna of the Contractors Association complained to the Prime Minister about a 40 per cent commission being requested by ministers, why was it not investigated? Santosh Patil, a BJP contractor and worker from Belagavi, resorted to suicide as a result of the harassment. Why didn’t anyone ask the former Minister? How could the police conduct a fair investigation when the Chief Minister, Former Chief Minister, and other leaders gave the former minister a clean chit? they asked.
