Bengaluru: The principal JMFC court here has rejected the plea by social activist S. R. Hiremath seeking acquittal in the defamation case filed by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi in 2015. The court has decided to continue hearing the case after hearing the arguments made by both sides.
In his plea, Hiremath said that his statement in the Hubballi gymkhana ground case was made in the public interest and prayed that he should be exonerated.
Hiremath had accused Joshi of illegally acquiring the gymkhana ground and using his political influence to acquire the land for the club during a news conference.
During the Lok Sabha election, he also created a list of “corrupt politicians,” and Joshi was on that list.
