Bengaluru: The new Chief Justice Prasanna B. Varale on Monday October 17 that the Constitution should be the foundation for justice delivery and not religion.
He was talking at a felicitation held at the High Court by the Advocates Association Bengaluru (AAB).
The new CJ also mentioned his connection to Kannada, saying that while his roots are in Maharashtra, he understands some Kannada.
He claimed that the two states had a shared history with equal importance.
Varale added that he was a lawyer because of Babasaheb Ambedkar and remembers the close association that Ambedkar and his grandfather and father shared.
