Bengaluru: “Republic Day is a day to dedicate ourselves to the Constitution and walk constitutionally and resolve for the progress of India,” said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He was speaking to the mediapersons after paying homage to “martyred soldiers” near the National Military War Memorial here on Thursday January 26. Conveying his greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Republic Day, the Chief Minister said, “India’s vast power, India’s glorious heritage has always been in a separate manner when compared to the rest of the world. As a modern, progressive India, we are moving forward with the motto of humanity, sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka prayas,” he added.
A total of eight persons, including Former Chief Minister S. M. Krishna, Sudha Murthy and S. L. Bhyrappa have been awarded with Padma award, he added.
“Over the past several years, the Prime Minister has adopted an innovative system of awarding The Padma Awards in recognition of those who have excelled in their respective professions, those who have contributed to the country, who have worked as a leafflower without any expectations. This is their way of functioning.”
“He has valued the qualitative work. We are proud that Karnataka has won eight awards. Karnataka’s vast human talent has been shown. I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to all of you. I hope more people will be inspired by them,” he said.
