Bengaluru: Former legislator and Congress leader Madhu Bangarappa has been appointed as the Working President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee’s (KPCC) OBC Cell by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
The AICC directed Madhu Bangarappa to assume leadership with immediate effect and work to build the OBC cell in its orders issued on Wednesday September 14.
According to sources, Madhu Bangarappa was unhappy with the Congress party for failing to assign him any major responsibilities. He joined the Janata Dal (Secular) party and ran for office in the party for the 2019 general elections, however, he failed to get enough votes.
He had kept his distance from JD (S) and its top leadership due to his distress over this.
Later, he was invited to Congress by KPCC President D. K. Shivakumar.
