Bengaluru: A woman is accused of defrauding a 40-year-old businessman of Rs. 2.38 lakh by assuring him that his daughter will be admitted into a private engineering college in the City.

According to sources, M. Krishna, a resident of Hosapalya on the main road to Kanakapura, claimed that he met the accused at an acquaintance’s house while looking for an engineering college for his daughter. Krishna later offered her the cash in exchange for a letter confirming her seat.

He tried to confront her after reading the letter and found that it was not formatted correctly. She started avoiding him after saying that she had an accident. When the complainant visited the college, he found that the letter was fake.

A complaint in this regard was filed on Wednesday with the Kaggalipura Police.
