Bengaluru: After drilling for just over a year, the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) ‘Urja’ between Cantonment railway station and Shivaji Nagar is expected to break through within a week. According to BMRCL sources, a mega function with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be held within a week to mark the final step.

As per the reports, nine TBMs are currently drilling to lay tracks for the Metro’s Phase-II underground corridor between Nagawara and Kalena Agrahara (Gottigere).

Urja started its operations on August 1, 2020. According to the sources, Urja has completed drilling nearly 835 metres of the 850 metres it is supposed to bore through within few days.
