Bengaluru: The City Police arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the gang rape case of a minor girl.
The arrested accused, identified as Devaraj, works at a plywood store. He has been booked under the POCSO Act.
The victim’s parents had reported the incident to the police after the minor confided in them and revealed that the accused had recorded a video of their physical intimacy with the victim. He had threatened to upload the video to social media if she married someone else.
According to the complaint filed at Byatarayanapura Police Station, four people had been accused of raping the girl.
According to the findings of the initial police investigations, only Devraj was involved in the incident. The victim and the accused had reportedly been in a relationship for the past four years. The girl recently said she wanted to end their relationship. When the two had an intimate moment in September, Devraj recorded it and started threatening her.
The girl became terrified and told her parents about the incident, who on Friday filed a complaint.
The police are reportedly looking into the other three people’s involvement and will take action if any evidence is found.
