Bengaluru: A bus carrying passengers crashed into a divider and overturned, killing one person and injuring at least 20 others on the Bengaluru-Tirupati national highway near Palamaner Town in the Chittoor District.
The deceased has been identified as Vijay Krishna (28) of Guntur.
The incident happened between Thursday and Friday night as the private travel bus was going from Bengaluru to Guntur.
According to a preliminary investigation, the bus’s driver reportedly fell asleep while driving at 12.30 am just as the vehicle was about to round a sharp curve on the highway.
Following the incident, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Palamaner hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is on.
