Bengaluru: Over Rs 9.7L cash seized from Sub-Registrar offices

Bengaluru: The Lokayukta Police seized Rs. 9,72,294 in unaccounted money from 14 Sub-Registrar offices in simultaneous surprise raids at 21 offices in the Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, and Ramanagara districts.

Unregistered sale deeds, receipts, computerised attendance records, the general power of attorney documents, cash declaration register, and other documents were also seized during the surprise checks, stated an official release.

The surprise search began on Thursday morning and continued till 3.00 am on Friday November 4, following the filing of three separate First Information Reports (FIRs) relating to three districts.

According to sources, reports on corruption, irregularities, and illegalities, the FIRs were filed.
According to the official statement, Additional Director General of Police Prashanth Kumar Thakur supervised the surprise visit, and further investigations are underway.
