The Incident
According to the charge sheet filed on Saturday, Ghosi meticulously planned the murder in the hours leading up to the crime. He purchased a knife for ₹65 from a nearby shop between 7 pm and 8 pm on the day of the murder. Despite being turned away by security guards when he first attempted to enter the PG around 8 pm, Ghosi loitered around the area for three hours, waiting for the right moment to strike.

At around 11:15 pm, Ghosi seized the opportunity when the guards were on a break, sneaking into the PG and heading straight to Kriti’s room on the third floor. When Kriti opened the door, Ghosi forced his way in, but Kriti managed to escape into the corridor. He chased her down, repeatedly stabbing her and eventually slitting her throat before fleeing the scene.

The Motive
The investigation revealed that Ghosi was enraged after Kriti helped her roommate, who was also his girlfriend, move to a different place without his knowledge. Ghosi had been in frequent fights with his girlfriend, who often confided in Kriti. Unable to find out his girlfriend’s whereabouts, Ghosi decided to kill Kriti out of revenge.

Aftermath and Arrest
On the morning of July 23, Ghosi vacated his room in Ejipura and checked into a PG near Kriti’s residence. Following the murder, he returned to his new PG, changed his clothes, and booked an autorickshaw to Yeshwantpur railway station, discarding the murder weapon along the way. After changing his plans multiple times, he eventually boarded a train to Betul in Madhya Pradesh and later took a bus to his hometown, Begamganj.

However, the police, who had already obtained his details from his estranged girlfriend, were hot on his trail. Ghosi was arrested as soon as he arrived in Begamganj on July 26.
