Bengaluru Traffic Police has embraced the Studio Ghibli aesthetic in a fresh social media drive against reckless motorcycle stunts. Their campaign, “Ride Safe, Stay Rooted”, leverages AI-generated whimsical visuals to resonate with young riders.
Wheelies—where bikers balance solely on the rear wheel—have surged in popularity, particularly among thrill-seeking youth gangs. To curb this hazard, authorities intensified their crackdown, charging 60 violators and detaining 45 individuals on March 27. Some of those apprehended were underage riders.
Social media platforms are buzzing with the police’s latest campaign, blending artistic storytelling with a stern warning: “Reckless riding isn’t courage, it’s danger.” The effort aims to drive home that traffic violations have serious repercussions.
Authorities highlight danger zones like Old Madras Road, Peenya Flyover, and Airport Road, where groups often gather for risky stunts. Repeat offenders face severe penalties, including ₹25,000 fines, vehicle impoundments, and license suspensions.
The gravity of the issue was evident last August when furious motorists hurled two scooters off a flyover after catching riders performing life-threatening stunts. Such incidents have only fueled public outcry for stricter enforcement.
Bengaluru Police remains steadfast, using creative strategies to reinforce that riding responsibly is the true trend.
