Bengaluru City Police rescued an abduction victim and apprehended one suspect after a rapid response operation coordinated through the Namma 112 emergency helpline.

Victim escapes and alerts police

According to police, the incident took place on May 22 around 5 am when four men who had arrived from the airport booked an Uber cab.

After reaching Srinivasa Nagar near Reva University, the accused allegedly threatened the cab driver with a knife and demanded money.

When the driver informed them that his friend had the cash, the suspects reportedly called the friend to the location and attempted to abduct him.

Police said the victim managed to escape and immediately contacted the Namma 112 emergency helpline.

Police team reaches spot within 16 minutes

The emergency call was relayed to Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramamurthy and Police Constable Raju, who were on patrol duty in Hoysala 164 attached to Yelahanka Police Station.

According to police officials, the officers reached the location within 16 minutes.

On noticing the police team, the accused allegedly attempted to flee from the spot.

Police managed to apprehend one suspect while safely rescuing the victim.

Investigation underway

Bengaluru Police said further investigation into the case is currently underway to identify and trace the remaining accused involved in the attempted abduction.

Officials also praised the quick action of the victim and the emergency response team, stating that timely coordination through the Namma 112 helpline helped prevent a more serious crime.
