Heavy rain battered Bengaluru on Monday, leading to severe waterlogging and massive traffic congestion across several parts of the city.

Videos and photographs shared by residents on social media showed flooded roads, stranded vehicles, and commuters struggling through long traffic snarls as rainfall disrupted normal life.

Residents vent frustration online

Several residents took to X to express frustration over Bengaluru’s recurring monsoon problems and poor urban infrastructure.

One user shared visuals of vehicles slowly moving through submerged roads, writing that even a short spell of rain was enough to turn streets into flooded stretches.

Another resident posted videos from Vasanth Nagar showing water gushing across roads, while several others compared Bengaluru’s streets to lakes after the downpour.

Many users also criticised traffic management during rainfall, alleging that prolonged traffic signal timings and poor coordination worsened congestion across the city.

Traffic movement badly affected

Areas across Bengaluru witnessed slow-moving traffic as waterlogging affected vehicle movement during peak hours. Commuters reported spending several hours stuck on roads due to flooding and bottlenecks.

Social media posts also showed autorickshaws and two-wheelers navigating through knee-deep water in some areas.

The rain once again highlighted concerns over Bengaluru’s drainage systems and urban planning challenges during the monsoon season.

IndiGo issues travel advisory

Amid worsening weather conditions, IndiGo issued a travel advisory warning passengers about possible flight delays at Bengaluru airport.

The airline advised travellers to check flight schedules before heading to the airport and assured passengers that support teams were assisting affected flyers.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in 12 Karnataka districts, including Bengaluru, raising fears of further disruption in the coming days.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious while travelling during heavy rain conditions.
