Bengaluru: A Bengaluru resident has shared a frightening account of a near-miss on the city’s roads after a truck abruptly swerved into his lane to avoid a motorcyclist riding on the wrong side, highlighting growing concerns over reckless driving and poor traffic discipline.

The incident, shared by Aaditya on social media, occurred during his routine morning ride to a badminton court and has sparked fresh discussion about road safety in Bengaluru.

Truck’s sudden swerve leaves rider with seconds to react

According to Aaditya, he was about to overtake a truck when it suddenly moved into the right lane without warning. He later realised the truck driver had swerved to avoid a two-wheeler travelling against the flow of traffic.

The unexpected manoeuvre left him with only moments to react, narrowly preventing what could have been a serious collision.

Describing the experience, Aaditya said the incident underscored how dangerous wrong-side riding has become and questioned the lack of adherence to traffic rules on Bengaluru’s roads.

Traffic violations continue to worry commuters

The incident has once again drawn attention to frequent traffic violations across the city, particularly wrong-side driving, which continues to endanger motorists, cyclists and pedestrians alike.

Many commuters have expressed frustration over the growing disregard for traffic regulations, stating that even cautious drivers often find themselves in dangerous situations because of others’ negligence.

Road safety experts have repeatedly stressed that following lane discipline, avoiding wrong-side driving and adhering to traffic rules are essential to reducing accidents and improving safety for all road users.

Citizens call for stricter enforcement

The viral post has prompted calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and tougher action against offenders who endanger public safety.

Several social media users echoed Aaditya’s concerns, saying similar incidents have become increasingly common on Bengaluru’s roads and urging authorities to strengthen monitoring and improve road discipline.

The incident serves as another reminder that responsible driving and strict enforcement of traffic regulations are crucial to making Bengaluru’s roads safer for everyone
