Bengaluru: The Karnataka Commerce and Industries Department’s agreement to pay a film-making company Rs. 4.5 Crore to make a five-minute promotional video for the three-day Global Investors’ Meet that will begin here on November 2 has drawn criticism.
Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani has written to the Department’s Additional Chief Secretary to cancel the agreement.
“The Department has signed a contract with a film-making company to create a five-minute promotional video for Rs 4.5 Crore,” said the Minister.
“Spending Rs 4.5 Crore for a five-minute video appears to be exorbitant. If it is true that the Department has given a work order after signing an agreement, then it is inappropriate and unnecessary to continue with such agreement at such a whopping cost. It is hereby directed to cancel such a work order,” he wrote in his letter.
