Bengaluru Rural: MLA T. Venkataramanaiah raised the issue and brought to the notice of the Government during the Assembly session in Belagavi to take immediate steps to purify the polluted water flowing into the lakes in the Taluk from the limits of Bashettihalli Town Panchayat in the industrial area of the District.

Meanwhile, on Friday December 23, it came to light that fish had died due to high levels of contaminated water in the lake at Doddatumakuru Village in the District.

Concerned locals had informed the State Environment Pollution Control Board (SPCB) after dead fish were found floating on the edge of the lake in Doddatumkuru Village.

Environment Control Board Senior Environmental Officer Rajasekhar and Additional Officer Vijaya, who visited the lake around noon, collected the water from the lake and took it to the laboratory.
