Bengaluru Rural: So far, 24,891 farmers in the District have registered to procure 3,57,024 quintals of ragi, which is expected to be higher than last year. Out of the State’s target of 50 lakh quintals, 2 lakh quintals of ragi is being procured from Doddaballapur Taluk itself.
“Ragi Procurement Centres have been opened in the APMC premises in the City and at Sasalu Hobli in the Taluk and the registration process is in progress. As many as 1.55 Lakh Quintals have already been registered for procurement from 10,385 farmers at Doddaballapura Centre and a provisional list has been issued to be brought to the Karnataka State Warehousing Corporation Godown near Gundugere Cross in the Taluk on January 12. The ragi will be purchased till March 3,” said Mahesh, an official at the Ragi Procurement Centre.
Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited has been appointed as the procurement agency to procure 50 lakh quintals of ragi under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme for the year 2022 – 23 in the State. This time ragi is priced at Rs. 3,578 per quintal and it is Being Purchased At Support Price.
