Anantha Academy for Special Education will host ‘Go Krida: Sports Ka Keeda’, an inter-school sports fest dedicated to children with disabilities, on November 8. The event will begin at 8.30 a.m. at VIBGYOR High School, HSR Layout, Bengaluru.
Event celebrates inclusivity through adaptive sports
The fest aims to foster inclusivity, teamwork, and sportsmanship among neurodiverse students through adaptive sporting events. Children will participate in a series of specially designed games such as the Medicinal Ball Throw, Bootcamp Challenge, Market Race, Relay, and Obstacle Races.
These activities have been curated to encourage physical participation and social interaction among children with varying abilities while ensuring accessibility and enjoyment for all participants.
Participants divided by category and age
Competitors will take part across three age groups and two specific categories — GDD/ID/DS (Global Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome) and ASD/SLD/ADHD (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disability, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
Organisers said the event will provide a platform for children to experience the joy of competition while celebrating their individual abilities. A student-led yoga performance is also planned to highlight the importance of mindfulness and physical well-being in special education.
Promoting equality and empowerment through sports
Founder Sharmila Jois Vellal said the event is part of Anantha Academy’s larger mission to build confidence and inclusivity through sports.
“Our vision is to create opportunities for every child to participate, irrespective of their challenges. Go Krida represents the spirit of equality, empowerment, and celebration of differences through the joy of movement,” she said.
The fest is expected to attract participation from several special schools across Bengaluru, along with enthusiastic parents, teachers, and volunteers.
Conclusion
With initiatives like Go Krida: Sports Ka Keeda, Anantha Academy continues to champion inclusive education by integrating sports as a tool for empowerment and community building among children with disabilities
