Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that it has been decided to set up a separate authority to manage the traffic congestion in City. The bill will be introduced in the next Assembly and the Act will be implemented, he added.
He was speaking to mediapersons after attending a meeting chaired by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari here on Thursday September 8. “In Bengaluru, many works are being carried out by the National Highways Authority of India, BBMP, BDA, BMRDA and Public Works Department. A lot of problems will be solved if a comprehensive master plan is prepared in this regard. In addition to all these, an authority will be constituted for the management of traffic congestion in and around Bengaluru, including railways and metro,” he said.
“Decision has been made to plan for three-tier transport technology. The railway project at Baiyappanahalli has been planned using the technology of constructing a multi-purpose pillar that can be used for metro, flyover and road. If this new technology of constructing a transport system on three floors using a single pillar is used, the rate of land acquisition will be reduced. It has been decided to discuss the matter with international experts and chalk out a plan,” he said.
“New project for Bengaluru – Mysuru Express drainage system work on The Bengaluru – Mysuru Express should be completed at the earliest. A new study has come to light about the intricacies of the stormwater drainage systems there. The miniyster has suggested to prepare a new plan for the construction of sewage system knowing where the water has stopped and where the water can be stopped and it will be implemented. It is a technical project and will be done in the coming days,” he added.
