Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has now fined a contractor Rs. 3 lakh for the shoddy road work after issuing showcause notices to three BBMP engineers for the poor quality of the work.

This has come after issuing the notices from PM’s and CM’s offices stating that, despite spending crores of rupees, the civic body did a poor job of maintaining the city’s roads.

According to sources, Rs.11.50 Crore was used to fix a 9 km stretch of road, but days after the PM left the city, the road began to peel off.

The PMO has requested that the State Government verify all of the paperwork related to the work and take corrective measures.

M. T. Balaji, Chief Engineer, H. J. Ravi, Assistant Executive Engineer, and I. K. Vishwas, Assistant Engineer of the RR Nagar Sub Division, received show-cause notices from Chief Engineer B. S. Prahalad of the Road Infrastructure Department, BBMP.
