Bengaluru: Police arrested a two-person gang and seized mobile phone worth Rs. 7 lakh.

According to sources, Mohammed Sajjad, a garage mechanic from Lingarajapuram, would snatch their phones when people were out alone at night on the streets and give them to his friend Arun, who has a mobile phone repair shop in Basaveshwaranagar.

The phones were stolen from Koramangala, Puttenahalli, JP Nagar, Madiwala, and other areas in South and Southeast Bengaluru, informed the Koramangala police. Police said that he had previously been arrested for stealing two-wheelers and released on bail.

Koramangala Police Inspector Nataraj D. N. and his team zeroed in on Sajjad, when Yash Gaur, a college student who lives as a paying guest in Koramangala’s KHB Colony, reported a robbery.

Gaur told the police that a man stole his phone and fled when he was talking on it outside the PG accommodation around 11.00 pm on October 6. Police were able to identify Sajjad as the robber with the use of CCTV footage. Based on his confession, police picked up Arun and arrested him.
