Bengaluru: Opposition Party Leader in the Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah criticised the BJP Government for not fulfilling its promise of giving a Government job to Kamegowda’s son of Malavalli who worked for water revolution.
He alleged that PM Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ had mentioned Kamegowda’s water revolution. On July 2, 2020, Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa had told Kamegowda that Government is ready to give one of his two sons a Government job according to their educational qualifications. Though Kamegowda passed away two years later, his son has not been given a Government job, he said.
The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms has so far written six letters to the Mandya Deputy Commissioner seeking to provide income and other details of Kamegowda’s family. From 2020 to December 2021, a total of six letters have been written to the Mandya Deputy Commissioner’s office. In the last letter, the Secretary to the Government in the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms mentioned that “it is regrettable that they have not responded for more than a year to give the required report.”
However, the Government does not seem to have received a report from the Mandya Deputy Commissioner so far. Kamegowda’s family has not got a Government job. This is a clear example of the performance of the Government. Even the work suggested by the Chief Minister will not be done in this Government. In this case also, there is a suspicion that the performance of the Government may have declined perhaps due to non-receipt of 40 per cent commission,” Siddaramaiah alleged.
