A shocking incident in Bengaluru’s Bannerghatta area has resulted in the death of 76-year-old Velayudhan, allegedly killed by his 42-year-old son, Vinod Kumar, following a trivial argument about clothing. The altercation reportedly escalated after Velayudhan suggested that Vinod wear a traditional dhoti instead of shorts.

The incident occurred on the night of the attack when both father and son were drinking together. According to reports, the argument intensified, leading Vinod to violently assault his father. He allegedly smashed Velayudhan’s head against a wall and kicked him repeatedly while he lay on the ground. It was revealed by Vinod’s younger brother, Vimal Kumar, that Vinod also attacked their father with a knife during the altercation.

Vimal informed investigators that Vinod had a history of heavy drinking and often involved their father in drinking sessions. On the night of the incident, Vinod had given Vimal ₹300 to purchase liquor for them both to consume. The argument over clothing soon spiraled out of control, leading to the tragic outcome.

After the attack, Vimal contacted the police when he realized the severity of the situation. Authorities confirmed that while Velayudhan did not have a stab wound, the physical assault was fatal. Vinod fled the scene but was apprehended the following day and is currently being interrogated by law enforcement.

Police reports indicate that Vinod had a troubled history, characterized by issues with alcohol and financial instability. He had been borrowing money from his father to support his drinking habit. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with Vinod facing murder charges.
